Alto (アルト, Aruto) is the main protagonist of Stella Glow.

Three years prior to the game events, Alto was found as an amnesiac boy near Mithra. He was taken under wing by Lisette and her mother and given the name Alto. The only clue to his origins resided in a pendant he had on his person when he was found.

Design[]

As a villager, Alto used to wear a brown vest, white shirt with a brown cross-stitch at the neckline and cummerbands, a brown belt wrapped around his waist, brown trousers, and brown boots. He will revert to this outfit in several endings such as Lisette, Archibald, and Keith. It is implied that Alto can revert the magical changes brought unto him by Elcrest in times of peace.

When Alto becomes a Knight of Lambert, he sports a red blazer, his dark brown leather vest features a silver emblem, a white left pauldron, dark grey cowboy chaps over his black trousers, a sheathed broadsword hanging from a belt at the back of his waist, and brown boots featuring white poleyns and sabatons (knee armor and feet armor, respectively). Both jacket and armor are lined in gold.

At the hot springs, he wears nothing but a towel around his waist.

Following Alto's duel against Elcrest, he undergoes a major physical change to resemble the Original Conductor. His black hair grew a shade violet and blue eyes now shine gold. His own outfit changed drastically. The red blazer transformed into a longcoat, the gauntlets transformed into larger and more sylized gauntlets, and the poleyns and sabatons magically fused into chausses.

Personality[]

Alto is an empath and possesses a kind-hearted nature. He is highly protective of his friends and Mithra, exemplifying the spirit of leadership when he's cornered or wishes to defend someone or something. As the prime hunter of Mithra, Alto appears to enjoy exploring and hunting, especially in forested areas. He's also a little sneaky, and curiosity gets the better of him at times.

Story[]

Alto was found near Mithra three years prior to the game events. Taken in by Lisette and her mother Rosa.

The story starts on Lisette's birthday, in which Alto heads out to hunt wolves. While out he encounters a mysterious woman singing in the woods. She identifies herself as Hilda, and warns Alto to leave Mithra quickly. Despite this, Alto and Lisette remain in the village, and witness Hilda singing the Song of Ruin, which crystallizes Mithra and its inhabitants. Alto tries to get Hilda to stop, but Dante gets in his way, beating him to an inch of his life. As Dante prepares to deliver the finishing blow, Alto's pendant begins glowing as Lisette's turmoil creates a black flame that quickly swallows them both.

In the darkness, Alto hears a voice that commands him to tune Lisette. Awakening in Lisette's spirit world, he calms Lisette and asks her to believe in him. With this, Lisette's power as the Water Witch is awakened.

Combat Role[]

Being the main character, Alto will see a lot of deployment in battles. He possesses a wide variety of melee physical skills that give him excellent damage output and good defenses, and is the first party member to learn the powerful Follow Up passive that gives him extra turns to cover more ground and do more damage. As a lot of story battles require Alto's survival, keeping him well-levelled is important.

Also unique to him is the ability to Conduct Witches. Conducting a Witch unleashes a powerful song that has many beneficial effects and works all across the map, at the cost of the Witch not being able to do anything else for subsequent turns. This action is costly, requiring a Song gauge of Level 4 or higher, but can quickly turn the tide of battle.

Once Alto receives his last 2 abilities near the end of Chapter 10 by inheriting Elcrest's power, his combat prowess dramatically increase.

Affinity[]

Alto's Affinity is special, representing his bond with his allies in general. Instead of spending time with anyone, Alto's Affinity ranks up during the progression of the story, usually after completing a Chapter.
